Samsung’s Next Innovation? New Patent Reveals a Rollable Smartphone That Expands Without Folding

The smartphone industry is standing on the brink of another design revolution. While Samsung has comfortably led the foldable market with its Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series, the South Korean tech giant is clearly not resting on its laurels. A recently surfaced patent has revealed that Samsung is diving deep into the development of a rollable smartphone—a device that can expand its screen real estate without the need for a traditional hinge or folding mechanism.

Beyond the Fold: How it Works

According to the patent documents, this new concept features a flexible OLED display that partially rolls up inside the phone's main body. Unlike the current foldables that use a hinge to bring two halves together, this rollable device uses a motorized internal track.
