Powering the Future: PLN Secures Record 2x725 MVA Supply for Digital Edge Indonesia’s Mega Data Center
Indonesia is rapidly positioning itself as a dominant digital hub in Southeast Asia, and the backbone of this transformation is reliable, high-capacity energy. In a monumental move for the country's tech landscape, PT PLN (Persero) has officially committed to providing a massive 2x725 Megavolt Ampere (MVA) power supply to support Digital Edge Indonesia’s state-of-the-art data center facilities in Cikarang, West Java. This partnership isn't just about electricity; it's about building the infrastructure necessary to power the next generation of artificial intelligence and digital services.
A Milestone in Digital Infrastructure
The announcement coincided with the topping-off ceremony of the CGK1 data center facility, which has now officially become the data center with the largest power capacity in Indonesia. This strategic collaboration between the state-owned utility giant PLN and Digital Edge Indonesia marks a pivotal moment in strengthening the nation's digital foundations. By ensuring a premium and stable power supply, PLN is enabling Digital Edge to scale its operations to unprecedented levels, securing Indonesia’s spot as a competitive player in the regional digital economy.
Visionary Leadership and AI Readiness
Stephanus Oscar, CEO of Digital Edge Indonesia, emphasized that a reliable power supply is the single most critical factor in developing large-scale data centers. During the ceremony, he noted that the topping-off of CGK1, backed by the largest power supply agreement in the history of Indonesian data centers, reflects deep confidence in the country's long-term digital growth.
Oscar further explained that this project goes beyond current infrastructure needs. The facility is being built with an eye toward the future, specifically to handle the intensive computing demands of Artificial Intelligence (AI). According to him, they are not just constructing a building; they are laying the groundwork for Indonesia to compete at the highest levels of the global AI economy. The CGK Campus is designed to grow alongside the nation’s technological ambitions.
Scaling Up to Meet Growing Demands
The journey to this record-breaking capacity began in October 2025 when Digital Edge Indonesia and PLN initially signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PJBTL) for 2x650 MVA. However, as Digital Edge’s expansion plans grew and the need for 24/7 uninterrupted service became even more critical, the requirement was increased to 2x725 MVA. This capacity will be rolled out in stages through 2030, making Digital Edge Indonesia the holder of the largest PJBTL with PLN and one of the most powerful data center hubs in the country.
PLN’s Commitment to the Digital Ecosystem
PLN’s President Director, Darmawan Prasodjo, reiterated that the utility company is playing an active role in bolstering the national digital ecosystem. He views the rapid growth of the data center industry as a clear indicator of how fast Indonesia’s digital landscape is evolving. Through this collaboration, PLN is committed to delivering sustainable and reliable electricity to support strategic sectors, ensuring that Indonesia remains the heart of digital economic growth in Southeast Asia.

Reliability Through Advanced Engineering
Adding a technical perspective, PLN Commissioner Jisman Hutajulu highlighted that reliable electricity is the non-negotiable foundation of the digital economy. As data centers and AI technologies continue to expand, the demand for high-quality power will only climb. To meet these rigorous standards, PLN has equipped the supply for this data center with a "double feeder" system, ensuring maximum uptime and redundancy.
Jisman concluded by stating that a scalable and dependable power grid is the first pillar of a successful digital economy. With this infrastructure in place, Indonesia is now ready to support the massive hardware requirements of the AI era, providing a stable environment where technology and innovation can thrive without limits.
